The Empress’s days at court are filled with fluff and frippery.

Clothes change in a flash, and the consumerist feast seems endless. Despite all the splendor, the Empress appears unsatisfied. Could two top-brand fashion designers provide relief from her dissatisfaction?

The timeless classic The Emperor’s New Clothes is reimagined for the present day. This performance reflects our media- and self-centered consumer culture, where constantly being seen feels like a matter of survival. The Empress's humor-tinged floundering exposes the exhausting nature of an outward-focused lifestyle.

This dance theatre performance bursts with movement and playful music. It expands into a multifaceted experience with a photo exhibition themed around environmental education, a global education workshop, and a media education workshop.

The piece premiered on November 21, 2019, at the Dance Power Festival (Tanssin Voima) at Kanneltalo, Helsinki.

The performance takes a stand on consumer culture and social media culture through storytelling.

The performance presents children with a story-driven glimpse into a world where they observe adults struggling.

Parents are daily drawn into the temptations offered by their phones, tablets, or laptops. Children grow up in a world where constant visibility and the approval of others seem like a matter of survival.

The performance is a fresh and humorous version of the classic fairy tale.
