In the hustle and bustle of cities, we often fail to notice those who walk outside the mainstream.

Old people, odd people draws its inspiration from the lonely and rugged figures who tread the streets. What do they think? Why is their twisted behavior still so deeply human?

The performance offers a glimpse into the living rooms of these solitary walkers. It explores inequality and our own unconscious tendency to assign value to others. The music of Tom Waits—his distinctive voice and storytelling—adds a compelling layer to the piece, enriching its emotional depth and atmosphere.

Old people, odd people premiered on May 7, 2015, at Teatteri Avoimet Ovet during the Power of Dance Festival. The performance also toured the Dominican Republic in 2016.
