Nine lives
Nine lives is a strong contemporary dance piece about a Western woman in the global world.
Nine Lives challenges Western ways of thinking and brings to the surface the lottery of life and its inherent unfairness.
Why does one person draw the long straw while another ends up with the short one? Does the Western woman stumble under the weight of too many ambitions?
This movement-based performance combines contemporary dance and dance theatre, incorporating text. The costumes are made from recycled clothes and fabrics.
The piece premiered on November 16, 2017, at the Dance Power (Tanssin Voima) Festival. In 2018, it toured to DanseFestival Barents in Hammerfest, Norway, and the Dance and Non-Verbal Theatre Festival San Vincenti in Croatia.
