Iida-Vilhelmiina Sinivalo is a Helsinki-based freelance cellist with a particular interest in the versatile expressive potential of her instrument in contemporary music and across various musical genres.
She is currently exploring this theme through her artistic doctoral studies at the Sibelius Academy's DocMus Doctoral School.
Graduating with a master's degree from the Sibelius Academy in 2016 under the guidance of Arto Noras and Timo Hanhinen, Sinivalo is known for her open-minded engagement in innovative projects. Her performances span a wide range of productions and interdisciplinary collaborations. In addition to solo work, she has performed in ensembles, chamber groups, and orchestras both in Finland and internationally, and she is active as an improviser and studio musician.
As a teacher, she has worked at institutions such as the East Helsinki Music Institute. In chamber music, she performs not only with Trio Lago but also as cellist of Earth Ears Ensemble. Sinivalo plays a cello by Patrick Robin, granted to her by the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
